Pregnancy and Lactation Weekly Digest

For the Week Ending October 14, 2018.

Men are such wusses right?

IUDs are a terrific birth control option for many women; you don’t have to think about them for five years. But putting them in can hurt. A lot. And in contrast to most other medical procedures that can hurt, most women don’t get any pain meds – they barely even get a warning that it might be a bit uncomfortable. This is important for you because you won’t be pregnant forever; you will have to deal with birth control again at some point.

Ultrasound Nail Art

Yup, you read that right. Apparently some moms-to-be are putting their sonograms on their nails, for some reason. Read more here.

This is important for you because next time someone accuses you of being hormonal and crazy – you can do this to prove them right.

Mandatory Pregnancy Tests

This is important for you because the environmental crises heading our way sooner than anticipated are only going to snowball with a growing population. If we want to hope to mitigate these effects girls need education and contraception – it is beyond unfortunate that they are being denied both.

Pregnant with MS

The rates of pregnancy among women with MS is rising. Doctors had thought that these pregnancies might be dangerous for either the mother or the baby, but now they have more experience and are handling the cases better. Read more here.

This is important for you because if you have a medical condition, regardless of if you need to take constant medication, you might still be able to have a safe pregnancy. Talk to your doctor.
