Toddler Milk

As more doctors and public health experts are promoting breastfeeding for infants, sales of baby formula are slowing. So baby formula companies are marketing their wares to a slightly older set. Pediatric nutrition experts maintain that these toddler milks are no healthier than cows’ milk, only more expensive. Read more about this disturbing trend here.

New research from Australia indicates that the presence of a particular species of bacteria in the maternal gut can promote fetal immune tolerance, and that moms who harbor this species are less likely to have children with allergies. Breasts and Eggs

Mieko Kawakami was first as a musician, then a poet and popular blogger, and is now an award-winning novelist. Her first novella, My Ego, My Teeth, and the World, was published in Japan in 2007 and awarded the Tsubouchi Shoyo Prize for Young Emerging Writers.
