Postpartum OCD

Although not as well publicized as its cousins postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety, postpartum OCD is totally a thing. And it can be just as debilitating as those better known psychiatric disorders. In new moms with OCD, the obsessions for which the syndrome is named tend to focus on their ability to harm the new baby. As with the other disorders, this one is treatable; but also as with them, new mothers often do not seek treatment because they are ashamed or afraid to admit that they might be grappling with it. This is important for you because having a new baby is really hard. If it is putting undue stress on your psyche there is help available to you.

This is important for you because it is yet more evidence that breastfeeding is great for your baby and for you – if you can manage it.

Canadian doctors have found a way to lure them in early in their pregnancies – showing them in utero baby pictures! Who could resist? Read more here.

This is important for you because it provides another reminder of how very lucky we are in the West.
