Pregistry’s Friday Recipe: Acai Smoothie

Acai (pronounced “ah-sigh-ee”) is a berry native to the tropical Amazon regions of Brazil and Peru. It is packed with nutrients and anti-oxidants, and has soared in popularity in recent years. Its flavor is most similar to raspberries and pomegranates.

As the berries are highly perishable, acai is most commonly found in powder form – perfect for adding to your favorite smoothie! We used blueberries and raspberries for this easy and delicious version; feel free to substitute with your favorites (and fresh or frozen work beautifully)!

Acai Smoothie:

  • 2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy both work)
  • 1/4 cup acai powder
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1/2 cup raspberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend till smooth. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.
