WHAT IS A NEANDERTHAL GENE AND WHY IS IT GOOD FOR PREGNANCY?

A recent study published in the journal Molecular Biology and Evolution found that women who have inherited a certain gene from early human Neanderthals may have inherited benefits that increase fertility and lower risk of miscarriage. Read the full article here!

PERIODIC LIMB MOVEMENT DISORDER DURING PREGNANCY

You’re in your third trimester and you start to be jerked out of sleep because your leg is kicking uncontrollably. Maybe you kicked off the covers or kicked your sleep partner. After a few nights of kicking and waking, you are exhausted during the day. You could be experiencing a sleep movement disorder that is more common during pregnancy, called periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD). PLMD is a close cousin of another movement disorder in pregnancy, restless leg syndrome (RLS). Read our blog on The Pulse here, and available now, our extensive Expert Report about RLS written by one of our doctors!
