Getting Married While Pregnant? These 6 Tips Are For You

Getting married while pregnant is definitely something that is both exciting and nerve-racking.  It’s a double blessing for those of you who have experienced it–you get to start your new life with your partner and your bundle of joy. However, all the excitement doesn’t mean there is no stress involved.

We have put together some tips for all you mamas to be (and brides!) to make your big day a little less stressful and a little more joyful.

  1. Timing is the most important

Make sure you choose a date far away from your third trimester.  Your second trimester is when you’ll have the most energy and feel your best so many brides try and choose a date sometime then. You will most likely be over your first trimester morning nausea and you will not be as fatigued as you will be in your third trimester. Additionally, once reaching the third trimester, many mamas-to-be get very overheated when dancing and being active.

  1. Stay hydrated and nourished!

A very close number two. It is SO important that you keep a bottle of water and some snacks close by you at all times. Ask your maid of honor to carry a snack and water basket! Brides who aren’t even expecting often get severely dehydrated on their special day due to nerves, dancing, and sheer anxiety. Drinking and eating regularly is a MUST!

  1. Be honest with the bridal consultant while dress shopping

Even if you decide you would like to keep your bundle of joy a secret from all the guests as long as possible, be honest with the bridal consultant when dress shopping. She will be the one who will be altering and helping you choose a dress, and she can be your biggest ally when looking ahead and choosing what will make you look best on your day.

  1. High and uncomfortable heels are NOT worth it

Many brides don’t wear heels to their ceremonies anymore. Heels are uncomfortable, they’re usually tight, and many times can be damaging to your feet. If pregnant, your feet will swell and retain fluid making it even more difficult to wear tall, strappy heels. Especially if your wedding is in the summertime, your feet will feel and look a lot larger than usual. When needing that extra height, brides oftentimes opt for platform sneakers if their dress covers the shoes.

  1. Honesty is the best policy

Include your significant other in the exciting news. Not only does it feel great to not have that huge looming secret, but you can also relax knowing that he or she will be there alongside you every step of the way.

  1. Delegate and plan ahead

Make sure you make the most of the help the wedding venue offers. Many venues come with planners and caterers–make sure you ask and really check out the contract when signing. The more staff you have, the less you have to worry about timing and planning responsibilities. If your venue does not have any staff, make sure you plan the schedule down to the last minute with your bridal party–they are there to have your back and help you through your day!

Last but not least–don’t forget to relax and enjoy celebrating you, your partner, and your future bundle of joy.
